Building It Right From Day One: Looking at Deckify’s Rookie Training Program

You can’t scale quality if you don’t teach it properly.

That’s why eight new Deckify Franchise Group franchise owners are currently going through our annual mandatory Rookie Training Program before launching in their home markets.

Decking is structural. It’s visible. And mistakes can be expensive.

So instead of throwing new owners into live projects, we train them the right way first — with real builds, real standards, and real expectations.

During the annual three-week January Training, franchisees move through full project workflows, learning how to execute outdoor construction from the ground up.

They’re learning how to:

  • Prepare sites, set layout lines, and execute proper footings

  • Frame decks correctly (ledgers, beams, joists, stairs, blocking, skirts)

  • Install decking systems cleanly and consistently

  • Build complete projects end-to-end (frame + decking + finishing)

  • Install railing and guard systems (aluminum and wood)

  • Handle add-ons like pergolas, gazebos, resurfacing, and unknown site conditions

  • Launch production with permits, municipal locates, inspections, and standardized job checklists

  • Run jobs using Deckify’s Zoho production pipeline and prep workflows

This isn’t classroom training. It’s hands-on construction reps designed to build confidence and execution speed before real customers are involved.

But technical skill is only part of it.

Training expectations are high. Franchisees are fully present, on their feet, and treated like they’re already running jobsites. Safety is non-negotiable. Coachability is required. Standards are enforced. That’s intentional — because that’s what running a professional construction brand actually demands.

The result?

Owners return to their markets with stronger fundamentals, cleaner builds, better inspection outcomes, smoother production launches, and the ability to lead crews with credibility from day one.

Once training wraps up, these eight owners will begin hiring subcontractors, securing permits, launching marketing, and executing their first Deckify projects — supported by ongoing coaching and operational systems.

This is how we build consistency across the brand. This is how we turn new franchise owners into serious outdoor construction operators running seven-figure businesses.
