Inside Rydel’s Rookie Training: How We Prepare Franchise Owners to Launch Strong

Most roofing franchise owners don’t start with real training. Ours don’t start without it.

Right now, five new Rydel Franchise Group franchise owners are in Ottawa completing our mandatory three-week Rookie Training Program before they ever run their first live job.

That’s by design.

We don’t believe in learning on customers’ homes. We believe in building a strong foundation first so owners launch prepared, confident, and operationally ready.

During training, franchisees are working inside our warehouse environment to get hands-on with real-world installs while also learning the business systems behind a scalable operation.

They’re training on:

Asphalt shingle installs, repairs, flashing, and underlayment

Jobsite setup, safety standards, and inspection readiness

Sales process, upsells, and handling change orders

Crew recruiting, management, and daily leadership habits

CRM workflows and production system

This is what sets Rydel apart.

Most contractors learn through trial and error. Our owners launch with:

  • Proven processes

  • Standardized installation methods

  • Backend operational support

  • Clear quality expectations

That head start compounds quickly; the business impact is real: faster ramp-up, fewer early mistakes, stronger installs, higher close rates, better reviews, and more scalable businesses.

Once training wraps up, these four franchise owners will return to their markets to hire crews, launch marketing, book projects, and begin building real roofing businesses — backed by ongoing coaching and support.

This is how we protect the brand, and this is how we set franchise owners up to win.
